In her role, Michelle Spooner is responsible for managing the geothermal interest of Planet Gas Ltd and leading the development of these geothermal resources to provide base-load energy for Australia. This role signifies her continual desire to work in areas of science which help mitigate climate change while meeting Australia’s energy needs.
Michelle joined Planet Gas Ltd in 2010 after twelve years experience in scientific research within government, private industry and research organisations, nine of which within Geoscience Australia in Canberra. While at Geoscience Australia, she worked on various research projects within the Marine and Coastal Environment, the Annual Petroleum Acreage Release, and CO2 Sequestration Groups.
Michelle graduated with First Class Honours in geology from The Australian National University in 2001 and followed this with a PhD in palaeoceanography and Quaternary Environments researching the Leeuwin Current offshore Western Australia.
