Michael Lee is the Operations Manager for Cairns Kuranda Steam. In 1999 Michael was pivotal in guiding Cairns Kuranda Steam through the third party accreditation process, the first such attainment in Queensland on the narrow gauge network. Michael has ten years experience as a third party mainline operator, including acting as a sub contract driver with Pacific National Intermodal. He has also worked in both operational and management positions in Heritage railways.

Michael spent 20 years in the Royal Australian Navy where his shipwright apprenticeship included propulsion engineering (steam and diesel). Michael holds a Diploma of Engineering (Marine Systems).
