The city of Cairns is continuing its track record as one of the most dynamic and fastest growing centres in Australia - a city that has been doubling its population every 20-years from barely 20,000 in the 1950’s to over 120,000 today.
Not only has Cairns outstripped many other regional top performers, but it has demonstrated in more recent years, it is a proven stayer, with an ability to surmount setbacks like the Asian economic crisis, the Gulf War, 9/11, global terrorism and SARS, to continue growing strongly. Clearly, Cairns is on the way to being a city of major strategic national importance.
However, continued growth over coming decades will bring many changes to the city’s fabric. This will bring diverse and complex challenges and responsibilities, which will need to be recognised and addressed by the community and especially by its business community.
THE 2020/2050 CAIRNS BUSINESS RESEARCH MANUAL is aimed at providing assistance to the business community in this task. It will be the most in-depth wide-ranging business research document ever undertaken in the region. Its goal will be to provide a research manual : |
Advance Cairns is the peak economic development agency in the Far North Queensland region. Our strength is the strength and support of our members.
Our objective is to develop a vibrant and sustainable regional economy that promotes and facilitates diverse growth, employment, and lifestyle opportunities. We do this by coordinating the efforts of regional organizations, facilitating new and existing business development, and advancing the needs and opportunities of the region in all forums.
Advance Cairns cannot bring about economic development or prosperity on its own. Only the private sector can do that. But with the cooperation of all parties we can improve the settings and focus the effort. |
